How was Mount Everest Formed?

Nearly about 40 and 50 million years ago, there was a collision between the Indian-Australian Plate and the Eurasian Plate. Affected by the great extrusive force, the Himalayan began to rise year by year. The present shape was formed before ten thousand years. With the great collision, many high mountains were rising on the earth and consisted of the Himalaya Ranges, such as Kanchenjunga, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Ama Dablam, Manaslu, Makalu, Lhotse, etc. Among the numerous high mountains, Mt Everest is the highest one.

Based on the survey in the late 1990s, experts claimed that the Mt Everest was still rising some inches year by year. In year 2020 the new official height of the Mt. Everest is 8,848.86 meters (29,032) feet announce by Nepali and Chinese authorities.

The Weather of Mt Everest

The climate of Everest is always hostile to living things. Because of the high altitude, the heavy snows cover on the summit of the mountain all year around. It is very cold enough that nearly no creature can be found at the peak of the mountain. The temperature is very low even in the warmest month – July. It is only about −2 °F (−19 °C) in the daytime in July. While in the coldest month – January, the temperature is as low as one cannot imagine. The average temperature is about −33 °F (−36 °C), but it can descend to −76 °F (−60 °C) in some extreme days. The snowstorms always take place unexpectedly, and the temperature can change a lot in a short time. Owing to the high height, the speed of the wind can reach above 100 miles (160 km) per hour. In summer, when it comes to rain, the rain falls like snow. Many mountaineers go to Mt Everest during this time, but they still have risks of frostbiting.
